Children at HCC
At HCC, one of our main goals is to learn to worship God in spirit and truth, and to instill that same love in our children. There is nothing more beautiful – and biblical – than for God’s people to pray, sing, and confess their faith together (Hebrew 4:14-16). If Jesus invited the children to come to him (Luke 18:15-17), why on earth would we want to rob them of the chance to worship with the rest of us? Yes, they will make noise, fall asleep, and not pay attention at times. We are fine with that.
We also deeply value the gospel being contextualized to all, even as Jesus put on flesh and became a man while remaining fully God. For this reason, we feel that it is imperative to both expose the youngest of our congregation to sing and pray with us, but during the sermon we invite children around age 3-Kindergarten to participate in a directed time of learning and fun during the sermon that is intentionally directed to their age group. We also have a nursery and a cry/nursing-moms room available for the little ones.
