Church Covenant

Having been born again by the Spirit of God and drawn to faith and repentance in the Lord Jesus Christ, we now, relying on God’s grace, enter into covenant with one another as Christ’s body:

Because God sent Jesus as a sacrifice on our behalf, we will seek to magnify the cross of Christ in all that we do, knowing that it is by the grace of God alone that our sins have been forgiven, our old nature has been put to death, and we have been raised to new life in Christ.

Because God has kindly chosen to reveal Himself, we will live our lives according to the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments, having submitted ourselves to God’s Word and embraced this church’s Statement of Faith as a trustworthy summary of biblical teaching.

Because God exists in Trinity and has created all people in His image, we will seek to exemplify a true Christian community, caring for one another, admonishing one another, and bearing each other’s burdens.

Because God has a unique role for each one of us to play in this church, we will use our spiritual gifts in God-honoring ways to build up the body.

Because God has liberated us from the bondage of sin, in order that we might obey Him, we will strive to be faithful in the Word of God and prayer, studying the Scriptures privately and corporately, and praying for others and ourselves.

Because God has given us new life in Christ, we will live joyfully by active participation in the life of the church, through hearing the Word of God and observing the Lord’s Supper, and by faithful attendance to worship, all to the glory of God.

Because God has given us all things in Christ and has secured for us a better hope, we will give cheerfully and regularly to the support of the ministry, the expenses of the church, the relief of the poor, and the spread of the gospel through all nations.

Because God has not left us alone in the world, but called us to be members of a local church, we will accept the spiritual guidance of this church’s leaders, obeying the church’s doctrines and teaching. Upon moving from this place, we will unite, if possible, with a church where we can carry out the spirit of this covenant and the principles of God’s Word.

Because God has been exceedingly gracious to us, we will walk in a spirit of Christian love in the congregation, seeking the things that make for unity, purity, and peace.

May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God the Father, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us all. Amen.
